Trying to get back into apartment - movie title?

It was about someone trying to get back into an apartment after they had a fight(?) with another person. Either it was two guys or a couple. I think there was something in the apartment that the main character wanted, but the other party fell asleep or barricaded himself, so the main role couldn't get back in. I also remember someone trying to climb up on the balcony to get back in that way, but didn't succeed.
There were some night shots of someone walking around the city streets, which seemed kinda melancholy.
There might have been a beautiful brunette girl in those scenes too.
Basically I believe the whole movie took place at night, and it was all about getting back into that apartment to fetch something.
Maybe the genre was crime with a dash of comedy and drama (even romance).
And pretty sure it was made somewhere in the 90's

Big thanks if you can help! :)

Sounds very similar to After Hours. Not exactly but not too far off.
