Film that might be in the 1970s or 80s. Action film with swords

fFrom what I can recall. It had sword fighting. Old English weapons. A young man/teenager was leading children to safety or something like it. They were being chased by a man wearing a black outfit and his soldiers. The hero happens upon a leader of bandits or something of the sort and it turns out to be the villains brother. He lets them go and is shortly killed soon after by the villain brother. I also remember about half way through the film the hero and his group run itno a young woman who duals with the hero and becomes his friend, making on of the other girls in the group jealous.  The ending has them fighting the villain and what I think were saracen allies. A king and his knights show up to help save the day and the hero fights the villain and wins. I am sorry that it seems so jubbled up. I wish I could recall more.
