Probably French, crime film, probably based on true story

I think it's a French movie, or at least took place in France. The story goes around a jewel theft, and some corrupt cops who try to find the stolen item(s) (maybe a diamond?). There is also an undercover cop who helps a prostitute somehow, and the end of the film they get the diamond and travel away. I also think the film is, at least partly, based on a true story,  because at the end of the movie there is a text that tells what happened the characters after the point the movie ends. It's possible that those informations are not 100% correct, I saw this movie quite a long time ago, sorry. What I exactly remember though, is that there is a scene when the "bad cops" start to rape the prostitute mentioned above, in front of the main character (who is in love with her) to get information about the stolen diamond, and the main character's name was Chayevsky, or Shayevski or something that sounds like these. I'm desperately looking for the title of the movie, any help will be appreciated!
