family movie from the 80s-90s that has magical dust that helps an old smoke train move?

There's a movie from the 80s or 90s from when I was a child, the only information I can remember is seeing them use this magical gold dust on the wheels of the train and makes it slowly start moving, it was one of those old smoke trains. I can't remember the characters but I think the train was able to move through portals by driving into one on special tracks made for this one magical train? Also, they had to do something within a time frame which is why they needed to get the train moving! There was a little boy and girl, and a man conducter.

It's not an animation. Any help is so appreciated, I'm sorry there's not much to go on. :(

This might be some version of Thomas, the Tank Engine. It has the steam train engine and the magical gold dust.

"Thomas and the Magic Railroad"?

"Shining Time Station"?

There are other versions, "Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends":

Live action versions:
Shining Time Station: 'Tis a Gift (
Mr. Conductor's Thomas Tales (
Unfortunately it's none of these. :(
This train is a real old smoke train, there's no face on it and it doesn't have a mind of it's own.
Paige, we can still help you if you want to edit your question to reflect what you remember...
Sorry I just reread the comments, the first one "Thomas and the Magic Railroad" is the answer!!! Thank you. :) I missed that one and just saw the shining time station and under. :)
