A team is sailing a river on a boat, when a native on shore breaks a boat miniature in half, and then the real boat breaks in half?

I remember seeing this clip at a very young age; this was in daycare and I probably hadn't even started school yet. This was in the early 90's. I saw a person watching this on the TV - there is a chance it's actually not a film but from a TV show, there's no way for me to tell. Anyway, I remember only one particular scene I saw over his shoulder: a team of people, perhaps archaeologists or explorers of some sort, are on a boat somewhere in a jungle. I assume they were trying to get away from something, because on the shore, a dark-skinned native, perhaps a practioner of voodoo or something similar, is watching them and he's holding a small miniature boat in his hands. He proceeds to break the miniature in half smack down the middle, and instantly the real boat collapses similarly and the team falls into the water. This is where my memory ends. It's been bugging me for two decades - anyone have any idea what film (or possibly an episode from some TV show) this is? I would assume the film could be from the 80's or very, very early 90's, but it could be older than that too. Definitely not newer than that, though.
