Beach movie where purple eggs destroy the world

I saw this movie on wlvi tv 56 on a Sunday afternoon as a kid and I have been wondering about it for decades now.  I think it was a late 60's or early 70's beach or hippie movie.  There are two agents searching for these purple eggs.  In one scene the two agents are hiding behind a rock with their underwear on their heads while they spy on the kids on the beach.  At the end of the movie the eggs are dropped and something like the word "splat!" Comes up on the screen and that's how it ends.   I've done every search I can think of to identify what this film was and I've even tried to locate old Boston TV guides to track it down but no luck.  Amy help would be appreciated greatly.

This likely is off-the-wall and a total miss, but I'll give it a try:

"The Day the Fish Came Out" (1967)
From Wikipedia (excerpt):
A poor farmer and his wife find Container Q and, presuming it holds some treasure, try to open it. Unsuccessful at first, the farmer eventually steals a device that sprays acid that will eat through anything. Expecting gold, they instead find strange-looking rocks. The Americans are eventually led back to the farmers, but not before the panicking farmers ditch Container Q into the sea and the rocks into a cistern that provides water to the rest of the island. The contents, presumably highly toxic, contaminate water used by the island's inhabitants. By nightfall, as tourists revel, the waters surrounding Karos are dotted with the bodies of dead and dying fish.
I think you're right!   My 35 years of searching for this movie may be over.  I did a Google image search and there was a photo of the guys with their underwear on their heads.     Thank you very much for your help.
