90s TV series -detective

All I remember is that there is this detective who works with a monkey called Charlie. There is also a female character- perhaps a journalist ? - with  long curly hair.

Maybe Ace Venture: Pet detective?
Or this Indian show: Raja aur Rancho?
No, neither of those :) The actors were not as known as Jim Carrey, and it was an American show. Thank you anyway :)
Are you sure this is a tv show? It had a cop paired with a monkey?
Yes, it was a show. A detective with a female partner  (she might be a journalist )with long very curly hair
Can you remember anything else? It wasn't animated? This whole series featured the monkey? I have been searching a lot and only come up with "bj and the bear", an episode of the lone gunman, an old tv movie with a p.i. and a monkey, and one with a monkey in government. There is a german show with a chimp named charly, living with a family, but no detective. Some people might confuse the gnome from "a gnome named gnorm" for a monkey...
