1. In the footer of every question you'll find the links: Answer and Comment. If you're not at least above 50% positive about an answer or are just asking follow-up questions or providing general information, please post it as a comment instead. If you have a good idea of the answer click Answer.
2. A form will now appear where you can fill in the answer. Simply type in the title, for example:
It's a Wonderful Life
3. Now go to IMDb.com (which you might bookmark for easier use in the future). Begin typing "it's a wonder..." in IMDb's search box. The title should appear in a drop down for you to click on. If not, type in the whole thing "it's a wonderful life" and hit Enter.
4. Once you've reached its page, simply click into the URL bar above, highlight, and copy the URL. It will most likely look like this:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0038650/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
5. That extra bit on the end ?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 is not useful to us or anyone else on NTM; it's for internal IMDb tracking purposes only. Please remove by either not copying that bit in the first place or by removing it after pasting it into the answer form.
6. Pasting into the answer form is extremely easy. The quickest way to copy and paste has always been through the keyboard:
Copying
After highlighting...
For Windows: Hold down Ctrl then hit C
For Mac: Hold down Cmnd (or Command) then hit C
Pasting
After selecting where you wish to paste (next to or below the data it corresponds to)...
For Windows: Hold down Ctrl then hit V
For Mac: Hold down Cmnd (or Command) then hit V
7. Your answer should now look about like so:
It's a Wonderful Life
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0038650/
And you're ready to click Add Answer.
Bonus Tips:
- You can see the preferred answer format here, but keep in mind that you may find your own style of answering as well, so long as your answer contains at least one title name and one corresponding link from either IMDb or Wikipedia
- Nothing special is required to link URLs; paste them in plain and after publishing your comment or answer they will be linked automatically
- If you intend on adding style your answer, wait until you've added all your content before going through and adding it
And finally, thank you for answering questions on NTM!
