Christmas movie with adopted teen with red hair finds his birth family

A wealthy husband and wife had adopted a boy who has reddish hair but in the movie he's a teenager. He finds out he's adopted and looks for his birth family. He friends his brother but doesn't tell him who he is, they play basketball. He watches them from behind a tree before he approaches them. Once part of the family who by the way all have reddish hair but aren't rich he get's to know them all. On Christmas eve he decides to go back to his adopted family but leaves his birth family a note under the tree telling them who he really was. I hope someone can help me identify this as I've been trying to find it for years. I saw it on TV, not sure what channel.
