French woman (in late medieval/victorian time period) ends up following and falling in love with a man who has assaulted her, believing that he has put a spell on her.

It was a French language film set in France, with everyone in medieval/renaissance clothes. It wasn't a very old movie, in fact it looked quite modern (90s+ almost certainly). It had a similar vibe to "Perfume", but was quite different in terms of plot.

The man was something of a vagabond/thief, whilst the woman was of a middling social class. The plot was a bit stockholm-syndrome-esque, with the woman following and entering a sort of begruding romance with the man after he had assaulted her. But at the same time (at least at the part of the movie I saw) she believed that she was only doing so because the man was a sorcerer who had put a spell on her (which he denied, saying she had fallen in love with him).
