Movie with spaceships escaping at high speed and leaving slower ships for dead

A fleet of spaceships is flying through space. Some are equipped with something that makes them able to reach outstanding speeds in the blink of an eye. Some kind of threat is coming to them and these enhanced ships decide to take off at high speed and leave the others behind to die. As soon as they start fleeing, people from inside the remaining ships realize they are being abandoned and shout things like "I hope you all burn in hell for this", while people from the escaping ships are visibly feeling guilty for leaving them. A little girl is seen inside one of the abandoned ships playing with a toy (a doll or a teddy bear, maybe), then a white flash indicates that the threat has arrived and killed them all.

The description makes me think of "Battlestar Galactica" (2003 TV miniseries, spun off to a 2004-10 TV series). I seem to recall the fighter squadron "shepherding" refugee ships then having to leave them. It could be in the miniseries, but I don't recall clearly enough, as I haven't seen it since it first aired.

I do tend to lean toward that than the series that followed.

Yes, you got that right! That scene was at part 2 of the 2003 miniseries. Thank you!

I'll list it as an answer then!

"Battlestar Galactica" (2003 TV miniseries, spun off to a 2004-10 TV series)

I was fairly certain that it was from the miniseries though not enough to make it an official answer.

Could you mark this as Best Answer? That way, it moves it to answered questions, letting others know you have a correct response.

Sometimes, the first thing to come to mind IS the right one=} I really need to watch at least the miniseries again; I have it on videotape.
