80s Animation, Dungeons & Dragons fantasy-style, I think

I have so little to go on, I almost feel silly asking about it :) When I was a kid, my dad used to copy VHS tapes from the video rental place so he could rent a movie once and we could watch it on repeat for a few weeks until we got bored and wanted something new. He could fit more than one movie on a tape and he just reused the same few VHS tapes so after a while, in between the latest movies there would be scraps of scenes of other movies.

Anyways I remember one of the tapes had a short bit of a cartoon that I had never seen before, and I can remember that scene fairly well, I think. Some teenaged generic fantasy heros were arguing with a big demon in the middle of a big swirling vortex, and the demon was bragging about how powerful it was. One of the kids challenged the demon to grab the sun out of the sky, and it tried and failed and this defeated it somehow? And the teen was like "the sun is actually 8 minutes ahead of where it is in the sky" and like, science defeated magic or something. That's all I've got, and I can't imagine it's enough, but I figured I'd submit this anyway and cross my fingers haha

This is a wild guess, as I've seen only parts of it:

"The Flight of Dragons" (1982)
Holy crap. I have wondered what that movie was for over 25 years. It took you three hours to answer.

This is the actual scene:

You are a rockstar, thank you so, so so so much!!

Goodness! Thank you for that compliment! Honestly, it was a guess because I've never gotten to watch the complete film though I've read some summaries; none of the plot outlines mentioned the scene you described. I thought~hmmmm~magic and science = "The Flight of Dragons"=}

Here it is as an official answer:

"The Flight of Dragons" (1982)

May I ask a favor? Could you choose it as Best Answer? That will indicate to others that this one has been solved.
