I want the name of the movie where a cobra escapes on a ship and they try to locate it before it kills passengers. 60's?

I am pretty sure it was in black and white. I seem to recall that the owner of the snake lied about it being defanged. There was also something about powder to detect the snakes movements.

Could it have been a sub instead?
I know you're thinking "Fer de Lance". This was definitely on a cruise ship or tramp-liner. I saw this in the 70's or 80's and it was old then. I seem  to remember they kill the snake as it's about to strike someone in a bed.
