What is the name of that movie where a teen girl and teen guy are in a virtual reality world?

Movie featured a girl and guy who floated around together in a virtual reality world. The seemed to visit different places in the virtual world and may have been love interests. Possibly a movie that never came out in theaters; first saw it as a VHS tape that was for screening purposes not for resale.

Can you remember anything else? This isn't something like "Spy Kids 3", right?
No, not Spy Kids. This movie was probably filmed in the 90s and what interested me so much at the time was the way they played with the special effects in the worlds they visited.
