An either 80s or early 90s film where the protagonist (I think Dudley Moore but I could be wrong) has a night of absolute comedic bad luck; he is mistaken for a burglar while trying to enter his friend's flat from whom he'd been given the keys to retrieve something, that leads to him eventually getting chased by a gang of hoodlums, then somehow ending up in the back of a van, and I believe at the end of the night coming full circle back to where he had begun at the start of the night. I believe the film ends with him being chased. It's non stop laughter the whole way. I thought the film was called something like 'the other night', or 'about that night' but have searched extensively and found nothing.

I was pretty sure the film was by Dudley Moore but I checked through his catalogue a few times and can't see anything resembling the film I'm looking for.  I'm pretty sure the protagonist was British and it's really just centred around everything going wrong in one night, one event after the other.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I tip my hat to you Lavina, that was excellent and you answered in record time... Can't tell you how long I've been looking for that film.  I obviously mis-remembered some of the detail but you still knew what I was referring to.  Can't thank you enough
You're welcome!
