Name of either a movie or a TV adaptation

I don't remember many details about this movie/TV adaptation - I was really young when I saw it but it's been bugging me.

What I do remember is there was a couple who were taking a taxi to a particular destination. The taxi driver tried to warn them not to go there however they were adamant that was where they needed to go. When they got out of the taxi, they turned around for a brief moment and when turning back, the taxi had disappeared.

I remember there was also a cat that kept disappearing and reappearing. There was also a fog that kind of lingered over the town they were in. Ultimately, the movie/tv adaptation was about this couple that was stuck going into different dimensions/parallel universes and they were merely trying to get back into the real world.

It may or may not have been based on something by Stephen King.

If anyone could help me find the name it would be greatly appreciated :)
