a hitch-hiker seems to be a billionaire, leaving his heritage to the one who offers a ride

This is a pretty quiet (road) movie. A very simple plot and not lots of action. The thrill is in unfolding at the end, because the boy/man who gave a loner a ride, got a document (i think), the hitchhiker disappears, only to find out he heritaged a few millions or billions because of that paper.
Period seen: probably in the 80's.
Maybe due to the plot it can be qualified as film noir (?) i don't know
