Japanese 1980s anime about little girl whose father gets hurt/dies when a tree falls over him during storm.

My memories about this children's movie is, of course, vague.

I must have seen in late 1980s or early 1990s, and I think it must have been a japanese anime. It's about a girl who, during a storm, runs away or something. Her father, I think, goes looking for her and gets hit by a falling tree. This happens close to a river. I'm not sure if he dies or only is badly hurt. ...I kinda feel like the father is carrying a child. Perhaps my memorie is all wrong and the father is carrying a child and the child grows up to be the little girl. Anyway, the girl feels guilty/is unhappy and I think there is a scene where she rund into a flowefield and plummels her hands into the ground while yelling.

In the end I think there is a scene from outside a cabin, an old man is carrying water by using a stick with two buckets hanging from each side of the stick. It's possible I'm mixing two movies....
