What MTV series had a black girl with big hair in it?

My boyfriend is looking for the name of the series he watched in the 80s, maybe 90s on MTV. He said it came between videos. He particularly remembers a girl with big hair just sitting on a rock and that it was in black and white.

There seems to be a thing called "intermissions" or "bumpers" that they ran back then. It seems it was one of those, of it was between videos. I cannot find a full list of intermissions, but hopefully that helps.
