TCM about a kid who was left in a mental hospital because parents thought he was mentally disabled but they were wrong

Not sure if it's TCM but my friend remembers it not having any color.

This kid grows up in a mental hospital because his parents left him there thinking he was abnormal. One day, a doctor notices that the kid looks like as if he's only copying the other patients.

The kid can talk and I think he wasn't a kid anymore when they found out.
