french or italian thriller movie from 60s, 70s, maybe 80s

The movie is about a young guy (20s - 30s) who is visiting his friend's family at their villa situated right on the coast of France or Italy. The alleged friend turns out to be a dangerous psychopath, who is manipulating the family at the villa. A lot of action takes place around the swimming pool next to the villa and at the house itself. Eventually someone gets murdered (I don't remember who, though).
