a mini-series in the early 2000's

I'm looking for a mini-series in the early 2000's (possibly 2005 or 2006) where two young men (I think one was Mark Humphrey...but I could be wrong) were sitting on the beach along the ocean when one or two girls approached.  One of the young men, Mark Humphrey, who was rich was interested in meeting one of the girls but he didn't want her to know that he had money so he switched names with his friend.  They began dating and eventually she found out who he really was but there was some kind of mystery going on their town or city such as murders or ?.  It was on Sunday evenings, starting earlier in the evening and later switched to around 10:00 or 11:00 for an hour or an hour and a half for 6 or 8 weeks.
