Book where an imminent hollywood actress moves into the house of a former actress

English, fiction, genre: Hollywood drama. (A) is a very popular actress. The actress(A) moves into the house in which a renowned actress(B) used to live long ago. It is a spacious house along the coast. There are lots of white roses in the book. Seemingly left for (B) by her lover.  Towards the end of the book,(A) gets brutally assaulted by a "friend", female, who turns on her. This is a big plot-twist in the book. There are some pages with the letters (B) and her lover exchange.  These letters were being read by (A). (A) visits (B) at the end of the book, I think. The book is about 300-350 pages. The book cover is that of a young woman in a beautiful dress, presumably (A), walking along a sea shore and in front is another woman, who looks old, I think it's (B).
