90s movie about adult woman remembering her abusive mother

I think this was a made for TV movie. I didn't see the entire thing, but what I saw was a woman recounting her abusive mother, which you saw through flashbacks. There was a scene where the girl is at a piano practice. She makes a couple mistakes, and her mom pulls her aside to yell at her and slap her across the face a few times. There's a scene where the adult girl is eating with a friend. The friend is having a piece of cake and offers her some. She then tells her about a time her mother got her a cake and forced her to eat the entire thing. In the flashback, the girl says she is full and only wanted a piece. The mom picks up the rest of the cake and shoves it in her daughter's mouth. Next, the girl is puking into a toilet while her mother yells at her for eating so much cake.
