Couple change because of war experiences

British black and white movie produced in the 1940's -  Plot: A British couple lead a dull life but then the husband is drafted and serves in the RAF or some other branch.  After he leaves, the wife eventually joins the services as well.  When the war ends, and they are reunited, they agree they have changed so much they should probably go their separate ways.  But at the very end of the movie, they realize the changes are good and they will stay together.
