Old black and white psychological thriller?

A memory bubbled into my conscious from long ago. A black and white movie, 60s?, earlier? A woman is held in a sanitarium, somehow she is tricked/decieved, and she has false memories? What I remember is a complex story, suspense, and an explanation at the end of the movie, with something of a happy ending. I do recall (he he) one scene where a doctor? spied on the woman in the bath, or possibly in her bed, from a window in the ceiling.

Not a lot to go by, and perhaps my memory is not that good, but I do recall being impressed with the story. If anyone knows the title, please share.

Sorry to doubt your confirmation, but "Shock" contains no scene of anyone peeping on a lady in the bath or the bed.

If you will be so kind as to examine this link:

Around the 31:35 mark, you will see a man peeping through a ceiling window pane at Glynis Johns as she takes a bath.  Note that this film fits all of your other descriptions as well.
