70'S Period Set Mini Series Or Epic Movie About A Falsely Accused Man Stranded On An Island With The Ships Captain And His Daughter

I asked this about a year ago, no answer, so trying again.

I remember watching a movie or mini series (it was shown over a weekend), cant remember a lot but basically it was about a man, possibly a naval officer been transported as a prisoner and stranded on an island with the jailer/captain and his young daughter, they survive for years before been rescued and the prisoner been accused of the captains murder. It spans over 20 years. When they meet again the daughter is fully grown and can't remember what happened to her father, and is engaged or married to the main characters enemy. It was set in the 17 or 18 hundreds.

Thanks for any help.
