Teenage boy is saved from scorpions by a monkey

80s american movie, live action. I only recall one scene really. A young teenager is lost in the wilderness. At some point, he falls into a pit with a bunch of scorpions. He's unconscious and the scorpions start coming towards him, but the boy is saved by a monkey that jumps down and starts killing the scorpions off with a stick. I think there may have been a scene where the boy is first lost in the wild and happens upon a gorilla, and the gorilla doesn't attack or hurt him.
