Early 90s comedian that looked like weird al yankovic

We found this guy on late night tv in the early 90s. He's an american comedian with curly hair and glasses. I remember at some point during his stand up, he gets out a guitar and sits on a stool ready to play. Someone in the audience raises their hand and starts saying something like he didnt get any cookies or something. The comedian then says something along the lines of how comedy needs to be something unexpected. He then stands up and says, because if it wasnt, it wouldn't be funny, as he proceeds to smash his guitar on the stool he had just been sitting in.
