Looking for a movie about kids, a book, a knight/magician and a castle

Well, I think it's kind of an old movie, it came out before 2000 for sure. As far as I can remember there were two kids who found a book and then there was a knight or some kind of magician( I'm not very sure what he was) who chased them. There was one scene where they were running around something like a castle. There was something about a potion too.
