I am looking for a film set in the near future about a man who, when he is born, his family told that he will only live for a certain number of years (30+)

I watched this movie when I was very young. It was about a man who, when he is born, is told that he will only live for 30 something years. As this is in the near future, the doctors know the exact year that person will die.

I have a vague memory of the film, however, one quote stood out. As this age is relatively young, his family makes sure that he is treated well for his whole life, often overcompensating small injuries/illnesses etc.

He says, narrating his childhood life in a montage cutaway 'every bruise/cut/graze was treated as if it were an infection, and every illness as if it were a disease'

I hope this is enough detail and someone will be able to find the film for me! Please and Thank You

I don't think this is the answer, but the reference to 30 years is mentioned in the movie "Logan's Run", from 1976.

Hey, thanks for your reply. Logan's run was close but I think 'Gattaca' is the one I was after.

Cheers for your effort, I do appreciate it!

I believe the movie you're thinking of is Gattaca. But I could be wrong.

Hey terrorvisiontom, thanks for your reply. Just checked the film out and it is indeed the one I was after. Although, quite different to what I thought it would be about.

Thanks very much for answering my question, I really am grateful and will give you a 'best answer'

Thanks again, mate!
Thanks. And no problem at all. Glad I could help.
