IFC Movie

What's the title of this movie? I'm certain it's an old ifc movie.
I was a kid when I saw this movie, so I might be wrong about some of the details but it was about a white or Hispanic woman who grew up on an island like Haiti or Jamaica. It may have even been Australia.

There was a scene where her house was on fire and her pet parrot caught fire and fell out of the window.

This is really the only scene I remember in detail.
I remember being sad about the bird being on fire and falling to the ground.
I'm not even sure if this next part is the same movie, since I was only a kid when I saw it and I may have understood the details all wrong.

So she grew up and married this fancy guy, I don't remember if he was American or English. Their cultures were different. But I remember another scene where he started to have sex with her while she slept and she woke up surprised but didn't say anything.

And then another scene where he sees her dancing with natives or maybe doing voodoo.

I never got to finish watching it and I've been searching for the title all week.

"Wide Sargasso Sea" (1993)
From IMDb:
A young female landowner in 1840s Jamaica marries a just-arrived Englishman to avoid losing her property. All seems to be perfect, love arises, and happiness is on the way, but she is hiding an old secret regarding her childhood and her mother. Slowly, this secret begins to erode this perfect relationship.

This is based on a novel intended as a prequel to "Jane Eyre".

EDIT: There is a more-recent version: Wide Sargasso Sea (2006 TV movie).
