world war 2, 2 childhood friends, 1 is Jewish, the other German

2 childhood friends during pre WWII in Europe, one is a Jewish boy or girl, the other is a German boy or girl. They find an abandoned home and fix it up. They spend a lot of time there playing together. Then Hitler's army arrives and their parents forbid them to see each other. They continue their friendship by sneaking out to the house to play together.  The boy sees a German swastika flag and becomes very frightened. The girl is seen dead floating down a river near the end of the movie. It is in black and white.

The boy in the striped pajamas
The details don't match.
I saw that movie good! Casspir is correct though, it's a boy and a girl, not 2 boys. Also, this movie is old, it's in black and white. Thanks for trying to help! Beth
Maybe one of these:
Ulica Graniczna (1948)
Jeux interdits (1952)
