Car crash in snowy mountains, weird village with frozen houses, frozen dinner on the table, frozen bird in a cage

5 friends are headed to mountains to go skiing, their car stuck in the snow, one of them loses their leg in the car tire chain, they go and find a village where all houses have open doors and frozen dinner on the table but no people. In the end of the book they find out it's some kind of sect and village is built on some kind of nuclear waste.

Did you get it from the library? Do you remember the cover? Any names come to mind? Did it take place in america? Was it originally an english book?
It's not Dean Koontz ''Phantoms'' :(
I can't remember any names but I remember these details:
- 5 or 6 people are off to mountains to go skiing, among them are ex boyfriend and girlfriend
- their car stuck in snow so one of them got outside to clear the snow, but his jeans got stuck in the chains on the tire and it ripped his leg open, he started bleeding heavily so they took him to some village in the mountains and saw abandoned houses. They started a fire in one of the houses, the found some medicine to give him to keep him alive etc... :/ It's not much but I hope I'll get the answer...
Oh, and I'm almost 100% sure it's originally english book.
