I think i remember the alternative title for this movie was "2000 lightyears", but i'm not sure. I have no results looking for that title. I guess 70's or 80's. The movie is situated in Ireland. A boy/young man meets an old man who is building a flying machine in his barn. The boy becomes his apprentice. The old man becomes his spiritual teacher. The old man has an eagle that seams to be the inspiration for the flying machine. Nobody believes he can build it or that it's going to work. In the end i think the old man dies and the boy manages to finish the flying machine and fly with it. The eagle is set free or escapes.
I remember 2 scenes:
1. The boy is instructed by the old man to go into a forrest and find 'his' (the boys') tree. By feeling.
2. One of the two is wounded. A lot of scratches and cuts, maybe delivered by the eagle. I think it was the old man. He instructs the boy to bury him up to his neck and leave him for 3 days or so. When he comes out he is completely healed.
It is probably 30-35 years ago i saw this movie, so there is a possibility that the two scenes are from different movies, but this is how i remember it.
I'd really like to watch this movie again. It made a great impression on me then. So thanks a lot to anyone who can help me find it.
