Movie with plane with daughter who lost her dad in the begining in a car accident + birds or ducks if I remember. She follows them with her plane or kite

In the movie I remember seeing a farm in the begining and then there was a car accident. It looked like it was filmed somewhere up north in Canada or maybe Usa

Although it was the mother that died in the car accident, it sounds like "Fly Away Home"(1996)
