Plane crash on unknown island.

The film was probably made in 1985-1990.

It starts off with one of the main characters (a big man) who beats up several bad guys with a timber log.

Then some people are on a plane. The plane gets trouble (maybe bad weather), and they are about to crash in the sea. The pilots suddenly spot an island that they've never seen before, even though they have traveled this route many times before. They check with the map, but they can't find the island there. So they land on the island, which turns out to be a strange/magical place. Think there are some tribes there. Some conflicts between the passengers on the plane, and also some romance.

They get saved in the end, I think by another plane that accidentally finds the island. It turns out that some of the passengers actually prefer to stay on the island because it is such a beautiful place, but most of them go home again.

Does this sound familiar to anybody? :)
