90's group of teens obtain superpowers assigned by color

I'm almost convinced this is from the 90's, early 2000's maybe. It was a live action movie in color, in English (I'm almost certain it was Canadian and not American but not 100%). It was about a group of high school friends (social misfits if I recall) who stumble upon something (can't remember exactly what) in the forest/woods/whatevs that gives them each a kind of superpower associated with a certain color. One of the girls who I remember being goth-y goes evil and the others (mostly a bookish blonde who I think is the last one to survive) have to defeat her. It was a real low quality weird movie but I've watched it many times as a kid and can't find it, even using specific quotes I remember

"You're thinking about... Heatcliff. Riding through the mores""Ethan frome actually but close!"

Could it be "Shorts"? It is the closest thing I can find outside of Power Rangers and their clone tv shows/movies.
No... The characters were older and it was.. darker feeling. Thanks for trying though :)

YES! That's it. Thank you :)
You're welcome!

Thank YOU for BA!

I think the film is on YouTube under the title "The Surge". I watched it there sometime last year.
