Movie or tv special about suicide

Had to watch a movie in school, late 1980s, where a girl commits suicide. I think it was about two sisters, they were teenagers? The end of the movie,  the one sister is walking on the beach while a sad song played. I thought it was a Simply Red song but can't find this movie that way.
