Set in tropical Central America-- Someone fights a highly trained local warrior-priest, one-on-one in the jungle. When the priest is fatally wounded he cuts out his own heart as an offering to his Gods.

Film set in tropical Central or South America.  Similar setting as "Apocalypto", "Fitzgaraldo" and "Aguirre Wrath of God".  There is a scene where some hero type is fighting a highly trained local warrior-priest.  When the priest is fatally wounded he cuts out his own heart and holds it in both hands in front of his body as an offering to his Gods.  I think I saw this on HBO or Cinemax in the 1980s or 90s.
