old black and white movie with a handcuffed guy on the run

It's an old movie, probably 50s, possibly 40s or 60s. I definitely remember a scene where the main character, who is handcuffed (I can't remember if he is guilty or innocent), comes into a blind man's house for shelter. He tries to hide the fact that he is handcuffed but the blind man somehow knows. But when the cops come to his house (I think), the blind man doesn't tell them that he's hiding him. Also, I seem to remember the handcuffed guy is accompanied by a girl, who he probably ends up with at the end of the movie. And I have a feeling the blind man is the girl's father or some relation or another. I also remember a scene where the handcuffed guy manages (or maybe just tries) to saw the handcuffs off or apart using a car engine somehow, just as the cops are coming.

"Saboteur" (1942)

"Tobin has called the sheriff, but Kane escapes the police, taking refuge with a kind blind man (Vaughan Glaser) whose visiting niece, Patricia "Pat" Martin (Priscilla Lane), is a model famous for appearing on billboards. Although her uncle asks her to take Kane to the local blacksmith shop to have his handcuffs removed, she attempts to take him to the police. Kane insists he is innocent and kidnaps Martin. When he takes control of the car and stops, she jumps out and tries to signal a passing car to stop. He uses the fan belt pulley of her car's generator to break his handcuffs apart, causing the car to overheat and break down."

You can watch the complete movie here:

I am sure this is your movie. If you agree, then please select my answer as Best Answer by clciking on the yellow star next to it.
