Its driving me nuts for years it should be 80s- very early 2000s comedy movie basically the main chatacter goes gun nuts (i believe he was a long time pacifist tho) he had a friend (who i believe was playing the supportitve type)

I rented it long ago and I was young it was funny it was a VHS and in a very foggy foggy sense I seem to remember the movie sleeve with a guy I could nowadays think was bill murray (but isnt) with guns behind him

"The Survivors"(1983)?
It starred Robin Williams with a beard? and Walter Matthau. The VHS cover shows Williams holding guns and dropping some behind him and Matthau walking behind and picking them up.
That looks correct, I'm about to order it and find out, thank you so much.
