Can you identify this movie it is in approximately the 1950s black-and-white, melodrama

I only saw a portion of this movie once as a child so I can't remember an a great deal about it. Although ithe little I saw I can remember vividly The central premise is a blonde attractive woman loses her husband via an accident I think. She thinks he is haunting her, because she sees a bowling ball roll across the floor propelled by an invisible force. Apparently this object belonged to her husband. I Also remember the so-called deceased husband hiding behind a curtain speaking to hòs widow in a whispery voice.
I recall a paddle steamer featuring heavily in this film too. I am not sure whether the so-called deceased husband is tricking his wife into believing he is dead to drive her insane, or that he actually is dead, and is exacting revenge on her for cheating on him.

I'm sorry I can't recall more than that.  I'm not expecting this to be identified with such very meagre information.

im looking for an old black and white film I saw a kid on cbc late night movies in the late 1980s. The story revolved around a blonde woman who discovered vast sums of money openly strewn everywhere in jars, cans, etc., belonging to the mysterious man. I remember one scene in which the blonde woman took a bath and she noticed a can full of money bills. Can you help me identify this movie.
